The Road to Vilnius: Six Questions, One Community
Every year, the FLIP+ community gathers for two days. And every year, those two days are the visible tip of something much larger. A year of monthly meetings, shared work, and conversations that cross borders and time zones.
This June, that gathering takes place in Vilnius, Lithuania, hosted by the National Agency for Education, for the 9th FLIP+ Annual Event.
The theme this year is Assessing Tomorrow's Learning: Collaborative Innovation in Action. It reflects where the community finds itself: no longer only sharing what each country does at home, but building shared tools, shared standards, and shared answers to the questions that no assessment system can answer alone.
Six questions
This year's programme is built around six questions the community will live together over two days.
On the first day, we ask how national assessment systems are evolving in practice, and how evidence, language, and AI can support fairer assessment. Member institutions from across Europe and beyond take the floor to share their national experiences: the successes, and just as openly, the challenges.
On the second day, the questions widen. How can open-source tools support fairer assessment globally? What would assessment look like if every learner was designed for from the start? And how do we use AI responsibly, without losing human judgement?
These are not abstract questions. They are the questions the FLIP+ community works on all year, in its Working Groups, in its Library, in the everyday exchange between colleagues who have learned to trust each other.
More than an event
What makes the FLIP+ Annual Event different is not the programme. It is the culture. FLIP+ is a place where colleagues share what is working and name what is not, where people ask each other for help, and where trust is the operating principle rather than a slogan.
That culture is not created in two days. It is built over years, and carried into the room by everyone who walks through the door.
As the community travels to Vilnius, that is what we carry with us: a year of shared work, and a genuine curiosity about what we will build together next.
